Inquiry v Outcomes

One thing that constantly challenges me in this journey is the battle between 'inquiry' v 'expected outcomes'. How do I provide those open inquiry tasks, that challenge my students, but still adhere to the learning outcomes? Or do as, Kath Murdock says "let go!". Let go of the outcomes and focus on the inquiry... Thoughts?

    I love the simplicity of this statement! I think the trick is seeing the outcome achieved in each learner as they freely inquire. I love this theory but find it hard in practice. I am keen to learn more about how to achieve the freedom and the outcome. Please keep sharing! Documentation is key, observation is crucial.

    Thanks Lara for your comment. I suppose posing tasks that promote student thinking is the main objective. As a teacher when then just have to be aware of where are students are at in their learning.
